| SILVER JUBILEE OF LITTLE ROCK |
LITTLE ROCK INDIAN SCHOOL took its humble birth in 1982, thanks to the vision of Dr C.T. Abraham, the Founder of Little Rock. An educationist himself he did not believe in replicating the traditional school. Dr C.T. Abraham visualized ‘a school with a difference’, endowed with material and human resources, which would match up to the best in the country. As a result, the last twenty-five years have witnessed the evolution of Little Rock into a school, truly unique and different. The spectacular growth of the School is also a clear testimony to God’s boundless mercies and the abiding trust of our students and their parents.
LITTLE ROCK strives to provide the best possible facilities to its students, including a highly qualified teaching faculty, with the ultimate aim of providing an education of the highest order. The School has a streamlined administrative arrangement, with Head Teachers for each section and a teacher-student ratio of 1:20 to ensure personalized teaching. In spite of such capital-intensive reforms, the School charges reasonable fees, sufficient to meet its actual financial commitments.

LITTLE ROCK launched its historic career in 1982, when it started the Kindergarten classes with just 72 students on roll. Adding one Class each year LITTLE ROCK has up to Class XII. With 3070 students and around 150 teachers now, it is one of the largest English Medium Schools in the State, with a rare teacher-student ratio of 1:20. |
a) To provide excellent educational opportunity for the children, in and around Brahmavar, its neighbouring areas and also children from all over India.
b) To provide an education that will build up national unity.
c) To shape God-fearing, patriotic and responsible citizens.
d) To cater to the needs of the parents who want for their children, an education that makes a difference. |
There are hundreds of transferable professionals and other employees in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada (Mangalore) districts and outside who need for their children a system of education and syllabi which would facilitate their easy mobility to and from other parts of the country and even abroad.
People from different parts of our country, from diverse linguistic and religious backgrounds are employed in this part of the district. A School like Little Rock Indian School (LRIS) caters to the needs of hundreds of children belonging to such minority groups.
LRIS has students from various States, and students coming on transfer from various States and Countries. There is a splendid mix amongst our student community with various mother tongues, usually around twenty or more. This exposure to diverse backgrounds is bound to foster in children an attitude of tolerance and appreciation for languages, customs, cultures and religions other than their own.
The need for quality education is felt by people at all levels of society today because of the tough competition in the various walks of life. Such an education calls for a schooling that goes beyond the limits of textbooks, but includes exposure to the arts, crafts, skills, value education and even the latest technology. In short the need is felt more strongly than ever before for a truly comprehensive education which will systematically contribute to the all-round development of a child’s personality. It is the avowed objective of LRIS to fulfill this vital need of the immediate community. |
The most remarkable feature of LITTLE ROCK is that students form the focus of all its activities. The school environment is decidedly student-friendly and conducive to learning. The teacher-attitude towards students is one of trust, helpfulness and reasonable firmness. An environment of guided freedom and mutual trust encourages and motivates students to behave and perform better.
LITTLE ROCK is located in the calm and salubrious Priority Highlands campus, an ideal location for an educational institution. With its excellent educational infrastructure, well-defined ethos, and innovative approach to school education, LITTLE ROCK has become the preferential option for parents who yearn for a meaningful, and comprehensive education for their children. The name and fame of LITTLE ROCK, which now has spread far and wide, is a clear affirmation of its credentials as a pacesetter in the realm of school education. |
We expect the students, parents, teachers and members of the staff to have faith in the following values and practice them. When individuals internalize and practice these values, they become institutional values effectively. The school will make every effort to practice these professed values with absolute sincerity. We as a school would have served a noble purpose if all its stakeholders - students, parents, faculty and staff - make these values an integral part of their lives.
- Honesty and Intergrity
- Order and Punctuality
- Regularity and Hard work
- Enthusiasm and Efficiency
- Tolerance and Non-violence
- Cultured behaviour - in word and deed
- Respect for human dignity
- Gender equality (e.g., treating girls/women with respect)
- Justice and Fair play
- Humanity and Helpfulness
- Cleanliness and Hygiene

LRIS is a self-financing School, with no grants from the State or Central Government. The fee structure is expected to meet the developmental and recurring expenditure, the major one being salaries of the staff. LRIS is one of the few schools in the private sector, which has introduced the Central Govt Scales of pay to its teachers. Besides salary, members of the staff are eligible for Provident Fund, Gratuity and subsidized education for their children. Salaries, developmental activities and the mounting maintenance costs require substantial sums of money. Obviously fee raise on a yearly basis to match the current salaries and other costs is inevitable. Nevertheless, the management has adopted the policy of collecting the minimum required fees, in view of the hardships parents might otherwise be put to. LRIS maintains absolute probity and prudence in financial matters.
Please see the “School Fees” of this Prospectus, for details of the fees payable by students of various classes.
Fee collection is done through Bank. Over 100 branches of the Syndicate Bank and Corporation Bank of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada (Mangalore) districts, and neighbouring districts will accept the School fee payments. The list of branches can be obtained from the school office. The paying-in-slips (chalans) for this purpose will be issued at the time of admission by the School Office. The ICICI Bank and UTI Bank also accept fee payments in all their branches within the country. |
