There are hundreds of transferable professionals and other employees in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada (Mangalore) districts and outside who need for their children a system of education and syllabi which would facilitate their easy mobility to and from other parts of the country and even abroad.

People from different parts of our country, from diverse linguistic and religious backgrounds are employed in this part of the district. A School like Little Rock Indian School (LRIS) caters to the needs of hundreds of children belonging to such minority groups.

LRIS has students from various States, and students coming on transfer from various States and Countries. There is a splendid mix amongst our student community with various mother tongues, usually around twenty or more. This exposure to diverse backgrounds is bound to foster in children an attitude of tolerance and appreciation for languages, customs, cultures and religions other than their own.

The need for quality education is felt by people at all levels of society today because of the tough competition in the various walks of life. Such an education calls for a schooling that goes beyond the limits of textbooks, but includes exposure to the arts, crafts, skills, value education and even the latest technology. In short the need is felt more strongly than ever before for a truly comprehensive education which will systematically contribute to the all-round development of a child's personality. It is the avowed objective of LRIS to fulfill this vital need of the immediate community.
